Modification of Child Custody - Attorney in Tulsa
In Oklahoma, child custody can always be modified. If the parents do not agree on the modification then the challenging parent will have to meet some specific requirements. If the current custody order is for joint custody then custody can be modified if there has been a material change which makes it in the child's best interest for custody to be modified. Sole custody can also be modified, however the parent wishing modification must show a material change of circumstance on the part of the custodial parent that materially affects the child such that a change of custody would be in the best interest of the child. It is not enough the non-custodial parent has had a significant change, the change must be on the part of the custodial parent. Title 43 O.S. 109

Our attorneys meticulously develop mediation strategies that carefully guide the negotiating process toward healthy resolution.
Children are best served when parents maintain a cordial relationship. Through the structured process of mediation, couples can often set aside hostility and agree on key decisions affecting their children. Mediation can be a highly-effective tool for parents to preserve their children’s well-being and the stability of their lives during the turbulent process of divorce.
Compassionate Tulsa Family Law Attorneys
Mediation takes some of the stress out of child custody conflicts and puts important child-rearing decisions in the hands of the parents rather than the court.
Experienced Tulsa Litigators
In some cases, litigation is necessary to protect a child’s best interest. When one parent refuses to compromise or expresses hostility toward the other parent, negotiations fail. Sometimes a parent may even pose a danger to the child’s well-being. In these cases, litigation is the most appropriate forum for establishing parental rights.
Aggressive Tulsa Family Law Attorneys
The Family Law attorneys at Boeheim Freeman Law apply an aggressive approach to litigation that will give you confidence that your children are protected and your parental rights are secure.
