Will the Court adjust child support?
The judge does have the ability to adjust child support and you can petition for a modification. However, judges generally hesitate to adjust a child support order that is already in place unless a compelling reason exists, or both parties have already negotiated an agreement. Factors that the judge will consider include changes in employment, healthcare needs of a child, or drastic changes in the obligee’s health, if a child turns eighteen, or the obligee is imprisoned for a substantial amount of time.
